Report: LSU Endowment Grows, but Still Ranks Low
From the Baton Rouge Business Report
The LSU system's endowment grew to $504 million in 2005 -- 9.7% more than the $460 million in 2004, according to an annual survey by the National Association of College and University Business Officers. The total endowment ranked LSU No. 110 among more than 700 systems of all sizes. LSU's endowment is tiny when compared to most large systems. Harvard leads with an endowment of $25 billion and UT-Austin is fourth at $11.6 billion. Tulane University is No. 71 at $780 million.
LSU, the flagship university, had an endowment of $262 million in June, up from $249 million the year before. The university has launched a campaign to grow the endowment by $500 million. A priority of the LSU Foundation is to build the University's endowment to provide reliable resources for the future. To learn more about the LSU Foundation, visit them online.
